Agaete
genevievegranni, 12:45h
After our hiking trip we totally needed some coffee and cake, what a coincidence that Agaete was on our way.
It´s a little village in the north-west of the island. It´s famous for good fresh fish you can get in any of the restaurants along the harbour.
Don´t miss out a walk along the coast, the sunsets are amazing.
We found an authentical italian cafe with homemade cake. Yum in the tum!

Hiking in Ayagaures
genevievegranni, 12:38h
Ayagaures is a deep valley in the south of Gran Canaria, surrounded by palm trees, pines and dragon trees. In the beginning of December we had friends over from Fuerteventura, it was the perfect opportunity for a nice hike in the mountains.
We took them to Ayagaures and these are some of the views we enjoyed.

Hiking in El Risco
genevievegranni, 12:18h
Let´s meet in the National Park Tamadaba
Sounds like an easy plan! Not in our case. We live in the South of the island, our hiking friends in Las Palmas and we were supposed to meet in the National Park in the west. So they would take the highway in the North and we would take the road along the west coast.
As we all approached the National Park we realised that we´re only a couple of kilometers away from the other group, but between us are the mountains :-D Great, that we didn´t work out which part we meant. As a result we had to go hiking on our own.
We just stopped at the next village and heard about a hike to some waterfalls.
It was so worth it. So many picturesque views. At some point the route was a bit thrilling, but we´re always up for some adrenaline rush!!!
All of us decided to come back in spring time and stay for 1 or 2 nights.
Can´t wait!!

Playa de Tufia
genevievegranni, 12:03h
A local friend showed us this beautiful hidden village.
Tufia Beach is located in the municipality of Telde, on the east coast of Gran Canaria.
The village has only white-blue houses and looks lovely. It´s a small beach with black volcanic sand.We could see many fisher boats, as it´s still the main business of the locals.
There were only a few locals around and some kids playing – a very peaceable place.
The airport is just next to it. So u get to see the starting of the airplanes, I never get tired of it.

4 Puertas near Telde
genevievegranni, 11:55h
Another sunday afternoon and a local friend showed us some hidden gems of the island.
It was very windy and cloudy that day, but it made the view even more spectacular.
First of all we went to Cuatro Puertas.
http://www.visitcanaryislands.org/cuatro-puertas
The Cuatro Puertas archaeological site is located in Montaña Bermeja only 3 kilometers away from the Telde city centre on the island of Gran Canaria.
The Cuatro Puertas is a hand-excavated cove of an old volcanic cone with 300 meters high.
Here you might find one of the most amazing deposits in Gran Canaria, already considered Historic-Artistic Monument since 1972. It was named Cuatro Puertas, Four Doors, due to its most important characteristic, the four main entrances that lead to a wide room. You might also see some enigmatic signs carved on the walls that, still nowadays, represent a mystery to all the experts, even though it’s believed this was used as a temple for religious acts.
